It can often be difficult to get any value on the day of any major horse races, much more so if one of the fancied horses that you fancy backing too is being backed off the boards, as the odds you will be offered will be low on such runners of course.
That is why the savviest of punters are always going to be looking around and comparing the odds on offer on the ante post betting markets at sites like Ladbrokes, for being prepared to back a horse to win a major race well in advance of it running will often see the odds being much higher than they ever will be on the day of the race.
Take for example the Irish Gold Cup, it is at the start of February on Sunday the 3rd is when this year’s running of that race is going to be staged, and it is of course the Leopardstown racecourse that is hosting that event too.
To help you make send of the early market movers and give you an overview of just where you are going to be able to lock in the best value on that race, below are some of the horses that are being backed by punters on the ante post betting market right now at the Ladbrokes online and mobile sportsbooks.
Horse Being Backed
It is the current 7/2 priced runner that being Road To Respect that has caught the imagination of plenty of punters and it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if that horse did go on to win. But there is a chance that both Presenting Percy and Al Boum Photo at 5/1 could come out on top.
Make sure that you keep an eye on the betting markets regarding Kemboy, that horse is currently available at odds of 11/2 and does have a good chance of winning and any moves in the market for it will be an indicator of more punters latching onto it.
There are a couple of other horses that you may fancy backing that both do have a very fair and reasonable chance of winning and they are Bellshill at 6/1 along with Monalee who is currently trading at odds of 8/1.
Each-Way Betting on the Irish Gold Cup
There is not a huge field of runners in the Irish Gold Cup this year, and that does of course mean that bookies are only going to be paying out to three places and at one fifth the win odds to each-way bets.
As for just which if any of the runners with much higher odds attached to them may be worth backing each-way, well you have a number of horses that could will one of the top spots and they include Total Recall and Anibale Fly at 12/1 and p[possibly also Balko Des Flos at 14/1 and Waiting Patiently at 16/1 too.
If you are prepared to back 20/1 shots then it will be the likes of The Storyteller, Killultagh Vic and Outlander that you should be looking to back.
